Will a color analysis limit your color choices?
The answer to this is yes and no. When you’ve had a color analysis there will of course be some colors you you won’t get in your color fan. Pure black and white for instance will not be in your fan unless you’re a Winter. Most shades of pink will not be in your fan if you’re a Spring or an Autumn. Orange will not be in your fan if you’re a Summer or Winter.
Other than that your fan will contain all the colors of the rainbow.
Red, Yellow, Green, Bluegreen, Blue and Violet
It’s not only about the color family, it’s more about the hue, intensity and chroma of the color.
In fact my clients say that they feel they are less limited after they had their analysis and that they truly enjoy to try out the different options in their fan. This is my experience as well, In fact my color fan gives me more color options than I could imagine.
You will also get your best choices of neutral colors like navy, brown, grey, khakis. If you’re not a Winter these colors will serve you so much better than black,
Only a Winter
can rock the black and white look.
Winter is the season with the most dramatic colors. The colors are cool and clear. Black, white, different jewel tones, lemon yellow are colors a Winter will really shine in. Light Winters need to be careful wearing black though, as dark colors overwhelm their personal coloring. You can read more about this in my blogpost about Contrast Levels.

Summer softness
that only Summers do so well
Summer colors are also cool colors, but they are softer, not as clear as the Winter colors. People often think of Summer colors as pastels only, but that’s a myth. Many summers look great in pastels, but there are also brighter colors in a summer fan, just not as bright as in the Winter fan. If you imagine you put just a little grey into the clear jewel tones you will get colors suited for Summers.

Spring has sprung
only Springs can truly get away with this warm, vibrant outfit
Spring colors are warm and clear, all with a yellow undertone. The Spring colors are vibrant and lively, bright orange, coral, turquoise and Kelly green are gorgeous colors for Springs. They can also use softer colors like peach and sky blue.

Fiery Autumns
are the only ones who will shine in Rust
Autumn colors are warm and often more muted than the spring colors. Think of an autumn landscape and there’s your palette. Rich, earthy, golden colors. Rust, moss, terracotta are great colors for autumns.
This combo would work for Trues, Contrasting and Vivid autumns
These are the 4 main types, but very often people fall in between the seasons. You will always have a main season, but you can be an autumn leaning into winter for instance. If so a traditional autumn color like mustard can look really bad on you. There’s springs leaning into summer and they might get shades of pink in their fan instead of the peaches or corals that are typical for springs. I’m an Autumn, but I also have some of the brighter colors from spring in my fan. There’s so many variations.
Some systems have 16 different classifications, but the Color Alliance system has 372 different classifications, and each color fan are almost as unique as your finger print.
